Template Locking

Learn about the lifecycle of a template and how to properly work with templates.

What is locking?

By default, a template can be edited by any user that has permission to do so. Oftentimes, you will not want a template to be used in a project until the template is perfect. The template should be both repeatable and complete.

Repeatability – the template is generic enough to be used accross locations, project, and sometimes accounts.

Completeness – a template should be complete, once it is locked, it cannot be modified.

When a template is locked, it is ready to be used when creating a new project/location.

Locking Issues

A template can only be locked if the following applies:

  • The project tasklist has at least one task

  • The location tasklist has at least one task

  • The template is not already locked
